Ventspils Nafta Termināls

SIA Ventspils nafta termināls is one of the largest crude oil and petroleum products transshipment terminals in the Baltic Sea region as well as the leading crude oil and petroleum products transshipment company of the port of Ventspils. The Company's basic activity area is storage of crude oil and petroleum products in tanks and their transshipment to tankers.

Crude oil is delivered to SIA Ventspils nafta termināls by sea on tankers; four different kinds of diesel petrol and other petroleum products, mainly various grades of gasoline, are delivered from Russia and Belarus by railway and by sea on tankers. Since 2007, diesel petrol is being delivered also by pipeline. SIA Ventspils nafta termināls currently receives and transships cargos of about 20 various petroleum product types in total.

The main services of SIA Ventspils nafta termināls are the following:

• transshipment of gas oil (2000ppm) delivered by pipeline;
• transshipment of clean oil products (car petrol-76, car petrol-80, car petrol-92, car petrol-98, diesel petrol (10ppm), diesel petrol (50ppm), diesel petrol (350ppm), diesel petrol (2000ppm), diesel petrol (5000ppm) etc.);
• quality analysis of crude oil and petroleum products in the laboratory.

Transshipment of crude oil and petroleum products takes place at three oil jetties of the Ventspils Port where six tankers can be handled simultaneously. Tankers with a loading capacity from 2,500 to 130,000 tons are being loaded at oil jetties - this is the maximum carrying capacity ships in the region can have to be able to cross the strait off the coasts of Denmark. 

At the moment SIA Ventspils nafta termināls shoretank farm capacity for storage of crude oil and petroleum products amounts to 1,195,000 m³. The park comprises 105 shoretanks, and the proportions of volume of crude oil and diesel petrol stored in them vary depending on the particular market situation and the wishes of clients. No other company competing with SIA Ventspils nafta termināls has shoretank farm with such large capacity. This factor allows SIA Ventspils nafta termināls to expand the range of transshipped products and its clients plan their crude oil and oil products storage/consignment schedules more effectively. 

To ensure maximum effectiveness of crude oil and oil products transshipment, prevent demurrage and increase volume and assortment of transshipped products four rail racks for handling tanks with crude oil, diesel petrol, various grades of gasoline and other petroleum products cargos operate at the terminal. 

The capacity of the rail rack for crude oil is up to 4,2 million tons per year (66 railtankcars can be unloaded simultaneously); The capacity of rail racks for diesel petrol is up to 10 million tons per year (170 railtankcars can be unloaded simultaneously). The capacity of rail racks for unloading of other petroleum products is 4.7 million tons per year (58 railtankcars can be handled simultaneously). 

The modern laboratory of SIA Ventspils nafta termināls makes chemical and microbiological analysis of crude oil and petroleum products in accordance with international standards.

The modernized complex of the auxiliary services includes the most modern in Latvia fire-station with a fully automated dispatch control centre. Using of high technologies allows the fire department to work with a maximal effectiveness and in accordance with the stringent fire-fighting requirements.

The high technologic development level has allowed SIA Ventspils nafta termināls to start offering ever new services to their customers by varying the range of petroleum products being transhipped; by storing crude oil or petroleum products at the vast shore-tank farm of the terminal for a longer period of time; and by creating the possibility of transhipping crude oil deliveries received by railway and by sea.
